Virtual Kingstoon Animation Festival

Service  ·  ,

Organized by the Government of Jamaica in collaboration with the World Bank, this unique event is aimed at positioning Jamaica as the “Animation Hub of the Caribbean” and showing the global animation community the strides made by Jamaica’s animation industry and the untapped potential of Caribbean creatives. Phase 3 was proud to have been selected from a competitive bid to provide the Production services to produce the Animation Festival.

Working closely with Robert Reid (Animation Specialist) along with Event Consultants Nasma Chin and Nicole Pandohie we set up to produce a high quality Virtual Conference. The production involved a 4 day in- studio production to capture all the video content for the session, motion capture for animation as well as the production of the finale an Awards Show with a Virtual Red Carpet.

Phase 3’s services included creative set design and execution, screens, lighting, staging and video production and live streaming. Phase 3 also offered tailored solutions to meet the specific needs of the Kingstoon Animation Conference. Whether it was creating custom graphics, implementing interactive elements, or managing live Q&A sessions, Phase 3 ensured that every aspect of the event ran smoothly and efficiently.

Margery Newland, project manager of youth employment in the Digital and Animation Industries Project shared “What the virtual event has allowed us to do is reach a wider audience than we did in festivals past. Over the first 48 hours of this year’s show, we had an average of 3,500 registrations, and when we compared that to last year when we had an average of 800 registrations per day over the three days, that’s quite a huge jump in numbers, and we are so very proud of that”

The five-day event was hosted by local media personality Debbie Bissoon and an animated robot, Caleb, who was created by Jamaican animator Coretta Singer. Caleb is a character originally from one of Singer’s first 3D animated shorts entitled Voyajah.

Overall, Phase 3 Productions’ participation at the Kingstoon Virtual Animation Conference in 2021 showcased our commitment to delivering exceptional AV services. By combining technical proficiency with creative innovation, Phase 3 played a vital role in bringing the conference to life and creating a memorable experience for all involved.
